Exceeded Expectations

I needed to pack up a 1,300 sq ft single story home and move its contents into a storage unit. There was a lot of furniture to move, to include old (and very heavy) antique furniture, as well as appliances like a refrigerator, washer and dryer. I hired High Tech Movers because of their excellent reviews I had seen, and the experience with them immediately got off to a good start. Shae helped set everything up, she’s very sweet and knows exactly what to do. Labor arrived on time the day of the move and was very professional and knowledgeable. The heavy antique furniture was the most intimidating items to move out of the house and load onto to the truck, but Donald and Chris had experience with this before and made it look easy. Isn’t that what you’re paying for? In addition to that, accountability and payment was flawlessly set up and executed. The entire process from booking to putting the lock on the storage unit was much easier than what I anticipated. If you’re looking for help in moving your house, you really need to give these guys a call.

Frustrated

I struggled over whether to leave a review of Hi-Tech Movers but decided it was the right thing to do. First, I want to say that the movers (Anthony and his crew) were extremely friendly and did a good job trying to protect my furniture and homes. That said, they started by immediately removing items that they could not/would not move, e.g., lamps or packages that were contained but not in boxes (e.g., items in a clothes hamper). Anthony told me that they do not move lamps and prefer that customers move them and other sensitive items.

I explained up front that we had a 4-bedroom home. Anthony showed up with a truck that was too small to transport all of the items. After moving the boxes onto the truck, there was little room for any furniture. As such, I have a house full of furniture that I still need to make arrangements for someone else to move. Anthony repeatedly told me that it was his birthday and that he wouldn’t be able to complete the job in one day. This was on a Saturday. Anthony agreed to come back on Sunday to pack the rest of the house and on Monday to transport everything to the new house. He also had a family event on Sunday that would prevent him from being present during the entire packing (on Sunday). That was unacceptable. If he was unable to complete the job because of his birthday or other plans, I would have appreciated it if he had simply not taken the job.

Also, they tore up a door jam at my other house (removing a couch), scratched the wood floor (in the new house), and got dirt/oil from the dolly on my yellow sofa. In fairness, I didn’t notice the door jam until I returned to the house. He denied the scratch on the floor (even though it was literally where they placed the foot of the bed) and they acknowledged and agreed to clean the sofa if I was unable to get the stain out (which I was). The final straw was when I told them I had a treadmill and he had no idea of how to transport it. He suggested that my husband take a look at it before they returned the following day to try to figure out how to disassemble it so it could be moved and suggested that the cost would go up if he had to do it because of the time it would take him to prepare it for the move. This has been such an inconvenience. And, as I mentioned, I still have a house full of furniture that I now need to arrange for someone else to move. Ugh!! I am giving this company 2 stars for the inconvenience and frustration with this move. We have moved multiple times in the past and have never had to do it over several days. #Totallyfrustrated.

Too unprofessional

I didnt use this company, but I tried to. I got a quick quote from them and called right back and left them a message asking for someone to call me back to work out the details. I heard nothing up until about 3 days before I had planned to move. I got a message from someone asking if I was still interested. I had to pass because I hadn’t heard back in a timely manner. I got back a cryptic message saying basically sorry not sorry because I hadn’t given them a down payment so they weren’t obligated to do anything. It might have been a communication issue at first, but the poor customer service on the follow up was really disappointing.

They couldn't just keep to time!

It would have been great if they had kept to the time they promised. We had to move and we explained everything to them and how urgent the situation is. They gave us an appointment, but I can’t just believe they arrived almost 32 hours past the appointment time. Avoid them if you have an emergency!
