Dear Sir: We used your company for a cross country move in Oct of 2019. It was a nightmare. Driver arrived with one helper. It was supposed to be an Empty truck, it was not. Which caused me to have to install a hitch on my truck and rent a trailer, costing me about 600.00 Pedro left without taking everything, I called your company, they made he come back and he transported my antique patio set between the ramp and the door, un protected, shattering the glass and destroying the cushions, I filed a claim with your insurance in Feb. and again by mail, (hard copy) in April, not response, I am sure they will blame the virus. When my belongings were brought to the storage unit, Matan, the driver noticed problems immediately, we sent pictures at once and I spoke with a man who assured me it would be taken care of. It has not been. Items destroyed and missing include: 1 leg of dining room table missing cost new 1250.00 World Market 2016 Entertainment center 72 inch solid wood top gouged beyond repair 950.00 Leg of credenza matching dining room table broken off 595.00 World Market 2016 2 bins of bathroom items, cannisters, towels, hair dryer etc missingmove1.jpg move2.jpg move 3.jpg move4.jpg move5.jpg move6.jpg Singer treadle sewing machine bobbin wheel broken off belonged to my grandmother irreplaceable 4 animatronic reindeer in large box missing 350.00 tiffany style lampshade shattered 250.00 miscellaneous items broken Can't take pictures of what isn't here The ball is in your court, if this is the level of quality you provide fine, you have 7 days to respond, starting Dec 14 I will post an appropriate review on your web site and Google everyday for 1 year, the length of time I have been dealing with this, I will also file complaints with the state attorneys office in every state between California and Pennsylvania. Oh and by the way tell Pedro I understand street Spanish and I did not appreciate being called a whore in front of 2 witnesses, because his undeserved tip wasn't big enough, Sincerely Pam Peterson
This whole situation has been an exhausting nightmare, and I would not recommend this company. There’s literally been issue after issue and they do a horrible job at relaying information 1. I originally went through Star Alliance who apparently sold the job to Black Bear. I had no idea until my items were picked up 2. They said I had more things than I said I did but I actually had less as I threw items away and was under the box allowance but I paid $400 extra anyways because I had to be out of my apartment 4. I had no idea I couldn’t pay by ACH (how I paid my deposit) until they showed up 5. I keep getting the runaround from Black Bear. They don’t return voicemails and when I’m finally able to get somebody on the phone I’m getting different answers 6. I had no idea my items were being put in storage. I was under the impression that once loaded, they’d be traveling across the country 7. I found out that the delivery is 10-14 days after my first available date and not the pickup like I was originally told 8. I was told they couldn’t find my payment a week after pickup and wouldn’t load my items until I paid. I paid through wire transfer the day after pickup. I spent two weeks going back and forth with them about this, even sent a multiple receipts from my bank. I kept talking to different people who told me they would let the wire department “know” that I said I paid, but had to deal with the same issue every time I called. Took them 3 weeks to locate my payment 9. Every time I call they say they don’t have a truck to load my items and don’t know when they will. Why would you take a job you can’t complete in a timely matter? 10. I then was told that once my stuff is loaded it takes 7 to 10 business days on average for my items to reach me Now they’re saying that legally they have 30 business days to have everything delivered and they don’t include weekends. Besides not having anything I own, I’ve moved to a colder state and don’t have clothes for the colder months. They have no idea when my items will be picked up or when I’ll receive them. They also don’t do refunds. I drove my car cross-country for the move and would been better off driving my belongings as well. I wish I’d known it had been brokered through Black Bear, so I could’ve researched them prior to letting them take my things. They’re representatives are completely unbothered that they have all of my belongings and I’m sitting in an empty apartment. Based on other reviews I’m afraid my items will be damaged and/or bug infested as well. Do NOT go with Black Bear if you want your items in a timely matter. I have quite a few colleagues relocating as well and will be telling them the same.
I saw many reviews about black bear moving so I decided im going to entrust them with my belongings and my move to NC. They are brilliant and hardworking guys. The entire move was much less headache then I expected, they did everything with the right attitude and motivation. They made sure my personal belongings are properly packed prior loading them to truck hence everything arrived in a good condition. They stand by their word and reputation, ill use them again in the future if ill end up moving.
I was looking a while for a mover since I was tied to a specific budget. also, the reviews were not bad at all. The entire process was a pleasant experience from beginning. booking the move was simple and it continued like this to the actual pickup. They were responsive by phone and emails, answered right away so it was easy to prepare everything from advanced. The actual move was fantastic. They were very gentle with how they moved things, I really worried about nothing. Most importantly, they packed my artwork, which gathering painting for about 8 years now (hence the stress for the move) and they made sure to take the time and explain exactly how they’re going to layer it with protection. Will definitely use their services again for my next move.
